YOUR URGENT ACTION PAID OFF!
Thanks for all your responses to our November 2017 Call-to-Action! Congresswoman Barbara Lee listened. She spoke with the FAA and got their assurance that the FAA will provide an interim response to the Noise Forum’s proposals sometime in January 2018. Thank you Congresswoman Lee!
URGENT ACTION IS NEEDED NOW TO MITIGATE NEXTGEN AIRPLANE NOISE
Contact Our Elected Officials and the FAA
The Oakland Airport-Community Noise Forum submitted NextGen noise mitigation proposals to the FAA in March 2017. It’s now November 2017 and no FAA response – despite assurances that the FAA received and were reviewing the proposals. It’s time to bring this process closer to the finish line and end this “holding pattern.” Proposals from the Peninsula are getting more political and FAA attention than ours. The East Bay deserves the same courtesy.
Tell them the East Bay needs and deserves a response from the FAA and a timeline for moving forward before the close of 2017. If your time is limited, contact our Senators first, followed by contacting the FAA. Congresswoman Barbara Lee has already supported us, so if you have time to contact her, please thank her for her help and respectfully remind her that we still need her support and strong action.
Every voice is needed. A personal call is best when contacting our elected representatives, but email is great too. To email, go to the elected official’s website and complete the standardized form. In order to increase our effectiveness use the following titles:
Message Subject: East Bay NextGen Proposals Deserve an FAA Response
Here is some suggested text. Edit your letters to make them unique and more effective. Your own words are a powerful addition.
Airplane noise from the new, concentrated, Oakland and San Francisco Airport NextGen arrival and departure routes over Alameda and Contra Costa Counties is loud and relentless. We’ve suffered from it since the spring of 2015. At the FAA’s request, the Oakland Airport-Community Noise Forum submitted proposals in March 2017 to mitigate this inequitable noise. We are at the close of the year, and are still waiting for the response from the FAA that our communities deserve. I urge you to strongly request that the FAA respond to our proposals so that we can move forward with mitigating the inequitable NorCal Metroplex NextGen aircraft noise in our counties.
Senator Dianne Feinstein
Senator Kamala D. Harris
Congresswoman Barbara Lee (13th District)
Dennis Roberts: Western-Pacific Regional Administrator
Julie Marks: Community Involvement Manager
