ACCOMPLISHMENTS

SOSEB has developed positive working relationships with the offices of Senator Dianne Feinstein and former Senator Barbara Boxer, Congresswoman Barbara Lee, Oakland Mayor Libby Schaaf, the Oakland City Council (in particular Annie Campbell-Washington and Larry Reid), and Alameda County Supervisor Nate Miley.

SOSEB worked closely with Oakland Vice Mayor Annie Campbell-Washington to draft an Oakland City Council Resolution to the FAA urging action to address the increased noise impact in Oakland. This resolution, sponsored by Vice Mayor Campbell-Washington and President Pro Tem Reid, was unanimously approved by the Oakland City Council in July, 2016.

SOSEB has developed a positive working relationship with the Port of Oakland and the Oakland Airport Community Noise Management Forum. SOSEB was given seats at and now chairs the Oakland Noise Forum’s NextGen Subcommittee.

SOSEB was a key participant in developing the Oakland Noise Forum’s community driven proposals for NextGen noise mitigation. These proposals received the unanimous support of the Noise Forum members and were submitted to the FAA in March, 2017.

SOSEB has been written about and quoted in the news, eg: Mercury News, the East Bay Times, ABC News, CBS San Francisco, Bay Area News, the Times Standard News, KCBS radio, and others.

SOSEB is a member of the National Quiet Skies Coalition.
